The New Hampshire State House, the state's capitol building, was originally built between 1815 and 1819 and today is the oldest continually operating capitol building in the United States. Visitors to the historic site can view a replica of the original, gold-painted, wooden eagle that was hoisted to the top of the dome in 1818. The capitol is located in the heart of downtown, five blocks east of White Park.
